Chapter 7 - The Federal Raid

"Put the phone down!" Patricia wailed like a banshee, crawling toward Daniel, cash literally spilling out of her dark green dress onto the hallway rug. "Daniel, please! I will give you half! Just walk away!"
Suddenly, the wailing sound of heavy police sirens shattered the quiet, snowy suburban Christmas night.
Red and blue lights flashed brilliantly through the front windows. Patricia let out a horrific, blood-curdling scream of pure despair.
The heavy front doors burst open. Four armed police officers swarmed into the hallway, their weapons drawn.
"Nobody move!" the lead officer barked.
Daniel immediately raised his hands, pointing down at the lockbox and holding up the original Will.
"Officers," Daniel announced clearly. "I have documentary evidence of massive estate fraud, document forgery, and grand larceny committed by Patricia and Claire Vance."
Patricia sobbed hysterically on the floor. "He's lying! I'm a respected woman! This is my house!"
The lead officer didn't hesitate. He saw the stolen cash spilling out of her dress. He grabbed Patricia by the arms, violently hauling the wealthy matriarch up from the floor.
The cold steel handcuffs clicked loudly around Patricia’s wrists, snapping the arrogant thief back into the horrific reality of her crimes.
"Claire, do something!" Patricia shrieked as the officer dragged her toward the door.
But Claire couldn't do anything. A second officer grabbed Claire, violently pulling her up from the rug and slapping cuffs on her wrists as well.
"Daniel, have mercy!" Claire wept pathetically, her floral blouse wrinkled and ruined as they dragged her toward the police cruisers. "I'm your wife!"
