Chapter 8 - The Financial Checkmate

As the officers dragged Patricia and Claire past the open front door, Daniel stepped forward.
"Oh, and Patricia?" Daniel called out smoothly.
Patricia stopped thrashing for a second, looking back with wild, terrified, tear-streaked eyes.
"I already texted photos of this Will to Arthur's original estate attorney," Daniel stated with a cold, merciless smile. "Your accounts are frozen. The fake Will is voided. You aren't just going to prison for grand larceny. You are going to prison completely, irreversibly broke."
Patricia’s eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated horror. The one thing she cared about more than human life—her wealth and her status—had just been entirely annihilated in a single sentence.
"You ruined me!" Patricia screamed hysterically, her voice cracking with pure despair.
"No," Daniel replied, looking down at his little girl. "You ruined yourself when you slapped my daughter over a glass of juice."
The officers dragged the weeping, hysterical women out of the beautiful house and into the freezing winter night. Their desperate, pathetic cries faded down the driveway, ending their reign of psychological cruelty and greed forever.
The hallway fell into a profound, heavy, and incredibly peaceful silence.
The remaining wealthy guests in the dining room, entirely disgusted by the explosive crimes they had just witnessed, quietly grabbed their coats and filtered out of the house, leaving Daniel and Lily entirely alone in the massive estate.
Daniel stood by the open front door, letting out a long, shuddering breath. The heavy, agonizing weight of the betrayal was finally lifted. He had protected his daughter. He had completely destroyed the monsters.
