Chapter 9 - The Revelation

Medium close-up: The heavy, suffocating silence in the luxury dining room reached an absolute, terrifying breaking point. The live piano music playing in the background seemed to entirely fade away, leaving only the sharp, shallow breathing of the men at the table.

Claire took a slow, deliberate step away from the advisor, moving herself strategically closer to the two massive bodyguards standing in the shadows, ensuring she was out of the immediate line of fire.

She finally turned her gaze to Dominic Vale. She didn't look at him with fear. She looked at him with deadly, absolute seriousness, carrying the heavy, agonizing weight of his daughter's trauma.

A subtle, powerful emotional pause hung over the table as Claire delivered the final, devastating blow.

"Mr. Vale," Claire said, her voice quiet but ringing with absolute, piercing clarity through the dining room. "She wasn't afraid of the water."

Dominic's brow furrowed in deep confusion. "What are you talking about?"

Claire raised her hand, pointing an unwavering, incredibly brave finger directly across the table at the trusted advisor.

"Your daughter is terrified because the man sitting across from her is the man who murdered her mother," Claire stated, her words dropping like heavy, tactical explosives onto the table. "She saw him set the fire. Ask him how he got the burn scars on his wrist."

The entire world completely stopped.

Dominic Vale’s face went entirely, deathly blank. The immense, overwhelming shock of the revelation completely paralyzed his breathing for a fraction of a second. Slowly, mechanically, Dominic turned his head. His dark, lethal eyes locked onto the wrist of his most trusted advisor.

Silas panicked. The veteran mobster yanked his hand out of his suit jacket, drawing a black, suppressed pistol, desperately attempting to shoot his way out of the restaurant before the boss could react.
