Chapter 5 - The Rival's Pawn

"Not what it looks like?" Dominic whispered softly, his voice a freezing, deadly calm that echoed across the sealed penthouse.
He pulled a highly encrypted bank ledger from the piano compartment. He read the names attached to the massive, multi-million-dollar offshore wire transfers Serena had been receiving for the last eight months.
"The Marcone family," Dominic stated clinically, completely devoid of human mercy. "You've been funneling my security schedules to my biggest rival. You smiled at my daughter, ate at my table, and planned to let them slaughter us in our sleep tonight for ten million dollars."
Serena backed against the locked elevator doors, trembling violently.
She had thought Dominic was a blind, arrogant fool completely mesmerized by her beauty. She thought she was going to unlock the penthouse doors, collect her massive payday, and walk away clean while the Marcone cartel burned his empire to the ground.
"I had to do it!" Serena shrieked wildly, her blonde updo falling into a messy, chaotic tangle. "They threatened my family! They forced me to plant the cameras! Please, Dominic, you have to let me go before they get here!"
"You aren't a victim, Serena," Dominic replied coldly, stepping slowly across the marble floor. "You are a parasite."

In a move of absolute, sickening desperation, Serena reached into her designer clutch, desperately trying to pull out the silver pistol she had smuggled inside.
👉 Dominic moved with terrifying, blinding speed, ready to completely break the assassin in half.
