Chapter 8 - The Lobby Slaughter

The cinematic realism of the terrifying, absolute silence in the penthouse was suffocating.

Fifteen floors below them, the massive, deadly trap violently snapped shut. The Marcone hit squad, entirely convinced they were walking into a defenseless building, stepped out of their armored vans. The second they approached the private elevators, Dominic’s heavily armed, elite enforcers ambushed them from the shadows.

Serena knelt on the marble floor, pressing her hands over her ears. Even through the soundproofed luxury walls, she could hear the faint, muffled thuds of the chaotic slaughter echoing up through the building's ventilation shafts.

Her entire support network, her massive ten-million-dollar payday, and her untouchable, arrogant high-society future were completely, permanently annihilated in a matter of seconds.

She had tried to play a deadly game with the King of Chicago, and she had lost everything.

"Please, Dominic," Serena sobbed pathetically, looking up at the man she had betrayed. "I can disappear! I can leave the country! I'll never show my face again! Just let me walk out of here alive!"

Dominic completely ignored her. He didn't even look at her weeping, disgraced form on the floor. He kept his dark eyes locked entirely on the secure private elevator, waiting for the final confirmation from his men.
