Chapter 6 - The Disarmed Traitor

Before Serena’s manicured fingers could even wrap around the handle of her hidden weapon, Dominic was there.

The mafia boss closed the distance with terrifying, lethal speed. He grabbed her wrist with bone-crushing force and violently yanked her arm downward. The crystal champagne glass slipped from her other hand, shattering aggressively across the marble floor, perfectly mirroring her absolutely destroyed reality.

Dominic forcefully snatched the clutch from her grip and tossed it across the room.

Serena let out a pathetic, breathless whimper, shrinking back against the steel doors as the towering, furious boss completely trapped her.

Dominic didn't hit her. He simply stared down at her with pure, unfiltered disgust. He had given this woman everything, and she had sold his daughter's life to his worst enemy.

"Someone thinks I'm already dead," Dominic whispered, his ice-cold, deadly calm proving infinitely more terrifying than any scream.

He reached into the pocket of her red silk dress and pulled out her heavily encrypted, secondary burner phone. It was the exact device she was using to communicate with the Marcone hit squad waiting fifteen floors below them in the parking garage.

Dominic unlocked the screen by forcefully holding the phone up to Serena’s terrified, trembling face. He opened the secure messaging app and read the last text from the cartel: Are the internal alarms disabled? Waiting for the green light.
