Chapter 7 - The Interrogation

Vincent’s blood turned to absolute ice. He didn't yell. The cinematic realism of his restraint was infinitely more terrifying.

He gently reached out and touched Emma’s trembling hand, completely bypassing the arrogance of his power.

"You carried my son," Vincent stated, a profound, unshakeable respect filling his dark eyes. "And she tried to murder you."

"I never wanted your money," Emma wept softly, holding the sleeping baby. "I just wanted to know he was safe. When I saw him crying tonight... I couldn't stop myself. I'm sorry."

"Don't ever apologize for loving him," Vincent replied fiercely.

Vincent stood up, adjusting his suit jacket. He looked at his remaining bodyguards.

"Lock the front doors of the restaurant," Vincent commanded smoothly. "Nobody leaves. I have to have a conversation with my fiancée."

Vincent walked slowly and powerfully toward the back room of the restaurant. When he pushed the heavy wooden doors open, Claudia was tied to a chair, weeping hysterically, her red designer dress ruined.

"Vincent, please!" Claudia sobbed as he walked in. "She forged that paper! I would never hurt anyone!"

Vincent didn't argue. He pulled out his cell phone, already dialed into his syndicate’s top forensic hacker.

"Pull the offshore bank records for Claudia," Vincent ordered coldly. "Check the dates exactly six months ago. Look for a wire transfer to any known hitmen."

Claudia stopped breathing. Her face turned completely gray. She realized she was entirely, inescapably trapped.
