Chapter 9 - The Rightful Mother

The chaotic, frantic energy completely evaporated from the luxurious Italian restaurant.

Vincent walked back out into the dining room. The guests were still frozen in fear, but Vincent completely ignored them. He walked directly back to the VIP table.

Emma was still sitting there, gently rocking the sleeping baby. She looked up at him, terrified he was going to take Michael away from her forever.

Vincent ignored his tailored suit. He completely bypassed his status as a ruthless mafia boss and dropped to both knees on the polished floor, right in front of the waitress.

"You don't have to be afraid anymore," Vincent whispered softly, genuine tears of absolute gratitude welling in his dark eyes. "The monster is gone. She will never hurt you again."

Emma let out a heavy, shuddering breath of pure relief. "Are you going to make me leave?"

"No," Vincent smiled warmly, gently placing his large hand over hers as she held the baby. "I am going to ask you to stay."

Emma gasped, her heart swelling with an overwhelming, beautiful emotion. She looked down at the tiny, perfect baby she had carried for nine months.

"You gave me my life," Vincent said quietly, looking directly into her eyes with a fierce, unbreakable respect. "Let me give you yours."
