Chapter 10 - The New Hierarchy

Dominic stood up, gently holding Lucas’s small hand in his own massive, tattooed grip. He looked at Maria, the woman in the grey uniform who had accomplished more in five minutes than his entire security team had done in two years.
"Maria," Dominic stated, his voice returning to its absolute, commanding authority, but laced with deep gratitude. "You are no longer a maid in this house. You don't clean floors, and you don't serve meals."
Maria’s eyes widened slightly in surprise.
"As of this exact second, you are the Head of the Household," Dominic vowed, the power of his massive wealth backing every word. "Your salary is quintupled. You answer only to me. And whatever this boy needs—whether it's a new toy or someone to talk to—you have unlimited resources to provide it."
Maria gasped softly, tears of pure, overwhelming joy filling her eyes. She bowed her head respectfully. "Thank you, sir. I promise I will take perfect care of him."
"I know you will," Dominic smiled, a rare, genuine warmth breaking through his hardened features.
He looked down at the broken bronze horse statue on the floor.
"Leave the statue," Dominic ordered the approaching guards. "It stays exactly where it is. A reminder that nothing in this house is more valuable than my son's peace of mind."

Dominic turned and walked down the grand marble hallway, holding his son’s hand, with Maria walking proudly by their side. The broken family was finally healing, and the dark mansion was finally starting to feel like a home.
If you were Dominic, would you have ever given Camilla a second chance to apologize, or was her screaming at your child an unforgivable offense?
