Chapter 2 - The Calm Reflection

Maria didn't move toward the broken marble or the fallen bronze statue.
With incredibly slow, deliberate cinematic realism, the maid gently lowered herself down, kneeling directly on the hard marble floor so she was perfectly eye-level with the furious seven-year-old boy.
"Lucas, stop," Maria said. Her voice wasn't loud. It wasn't angry. It was impossibly calm, carrying a gentle, unwavering authority that seemed to instantly absorb the violent energy in the hallway.
Lucas kept his fists clenched, his jaw locked tight. "I'm going to break everything! I'm going to break the whole house!"
"Look at me," Maria requested softly, ignoring the threat completely.
Lucas instinctively met her gaze. He expected to see fear or frustration in her eyes, but he only saw deep, profound empathy.
"You're hurting inside, aren't you?" Maria asked gently, her voice barely above a whisper.
The question hit the little boy like a physical blow. A tight, cinematic close-up captured Lucas’s face as the raw, aggressive anger instantly crumbled. The protective wall he had built around himself completely collapsed. His face flushed a deep, painful red, and thick, heavy tears began to stream rapidly down his cheeks.
He uncurled his small hands and violently clenched his fist against his own chest, right over his heart, overwhelmed by emotional pain he didn't know how to articulate.
