Chapter 7 - The Broken Engagement

"Dominic, please, be reasonable!" Camilla begged, her voice pitching higher as she realized her entire multi-million-dollar future was evaporating before her eyes. "He needs a mother! I'm trying to prepare him for high society!"
"He doesn't need high society," Dominic stated coldly, his intense eyes locking onto the terrified socialite. "He needs exactly what Maria just gave him. Patience. Empathy. Two things you have never possessed in your entire miserable life."
Camilla’s face flushed red with indignation. "You're choosing a servant over me?! Over your future wife?!"
Dominic didn't argue. He slowly reached into the pocket of his dark blue suit jacket. He pulled out the massive, five-million-dollar diamond engagement ring he had given her three weeks ago. She had taken it off to go to the spa that morning.
With a careless, dismissive flick of his wrist, Dominic tossed the heavy diamond ring directly onto the cracked marble floor next to the broken bronze statue.
"The engagement is over," Dominic commanded, his voice echoing with absolute, unquestionable authority. "Pack your bags. If you are still in this house in fifteen minutes, my guards will drag you out to the gate by your hair."

Camilla gasped, tears of pure, unadulterated humiliation springing to her eyes. She looked at the ring on the floor, then at the terrifying mafia boss, realizing her gold-digging scheme was completely, permanently destroyed.
👉 The toxic parasite was banished, leaving Dominic to face the woman who had just saved his son's life.
