Chapter 2 - The Silent Fury

The polite murmurs of the wealthy guests instantly died. The live string quartet abruptly stopped playing.
Dominic Moretti, a powerfully built man in his late thirties, stood up slowly from the head table. He was exceptionally handsome, with dark stubble and a sharp all-black suit and tie. He radiated a cold, deeply intimidating aura. He was a man who commanded a criminal empire, fiercely protective of his son, and he did not tolerate disrespect in his home.
Sophia, a young woman in her thirties wearing a classic black and white maid uniform, sprinted across the ballroom. Her face was entirely drained of color.
She dropped to her knees on the marble floor, slipping slightly on the smashed frosting, and grabbed her little daughter. Sophia pulled Lily desperately behind her back, shielding the tiny girl with her own trembling body.
"Mr. Moretti, please," Sophia begged, her voice cracking with absolute, paralyzing terror as she looked up at the towering mafia boss. "I am so sorry... she's only three. She doesn't understand. I'll clean it up immediately. Please don't punish her."
Dominic stepped out from behind the heavy mahogany table. His highly polished black shoes clicked slowly, deliberately against the marble as he closed the distance between them.
He completely ignored the terrified maid's apology.
Instead of shouting for his armed security, Dominic stopped right in front of the spilled cake. He slowly crouched down to eye level with the little girl hiding behind her mother’s apron. His deeply intimidating presence suddenly shifted into an intense, focused, and eerie calm.
