Chapter 4 - The Golden Clue

Lily tilted her head, thinking for a fraction of a second. She didn't know the names of the powerful men who walked the halls of the Westchester estate. But she had the sharp, observant eyes of a child who spent her life watching the world from the shadows.
"He had a pretty gold watch," Lily answered innocently.
An extreme, cinematic close-up captured Dominic’s face as the words left the child's lips.
His dark eyes widened for a microsecond before narrowing into slits of pure, lethal realization. A subtle, powerful emotional pause hung in the air as his brilliant, tactical mind snapped the puzzle pieces together.
Dominic didn't need a facial description. He didn't need security footage.
He knew exactly who owned a custom, one-of-a-kind, solid gold chronograph watch. It was a vintage piece, heavily engraved, imported from Switzerland. And Dominic knew this because he had personally gifted that exact watch to his most trusted underboss, Julian, five years ago.
Julian. The man who managed his offshore accounts. The man who had been standing in the kitchen just twenty minutes ago, claiming he was checking on the catering staff.
Dominic slowly stood up to his full height. He didn't look at the crowd. He didn't raise his voice. He simply raised one hand, snapping his fingers twice.
Instantly, the heavy oak doors of the grand ballroom were slammed shut and bolted by his massive, armed security guards.
