Chapter 22 - the corsican threat

Lily immediately bypassed the crowded ballroom and walked straight to Dominic's private study. She handed the black envelope directly to the billionaire.
Dominic's handsome, aging face hardened into cold stone as he broke the fractured skull seal. Sophia stood close by his side, her eyes narrowing as she read the single piece of parchment. The message was written in blood-red ink, demanding the surrender of the Moretti shipping routes along the eastern seaboard within twenty-four hours, or Ethan would not live to see his nineteenth year.
"They bypassed three layers of armed security just to deliver a piece of paper," Dominic murmured, his voice a low, terrifying rumble of impending violence. "The Corsicans have grown arrogant."
Sophia did not show a single ounce of fear. She had defeated a federal senator; a foreign cartel was simply another insect to crush.
"They want to paralyze us with fear on our son's most important night," Sophia stated smoothly, her brilliant tactical mind already turning rapidly. "We will not evacuate the party. We will use it as a trap."
