Chapter 10 - The Family Reclaimed

We walked back into the grand dining room.

Amara was still sitting in the massive wooden chair, happily eating a piece of bread, completely oblivious to the apocalyptic cartel war that had just been cleanly executed in the basement.

Julian walked over to her. He didn't care about his expensive black suit. He knelt beside her chair, wrapping his massive, tattooed arms around his tiny daughter, burying his face in her dark hair.

"Are you going to eat with us now?" Amara asked innocently, patting his broad shoulder.

"I am going to eat every single meal with you for the rest of your life, Amara," Julian wept softly, a beautiful, genuine smile finally breaking through his hardened face.

He looked up at me standing by the table. The intense, protective warmth in his eyes completely changed the entire atmosphere of the mansion. The estate was no longer a cold, violent fortress. It was finally a home.

Victor was permanently erased by the rival cartel, leaving Julian to rule his empire with absolute, unchallenged authority. But the ruthless monster was gone, replaced by a fierce protector who ensured that Grace and Amara never wanted for anything again.

I sat down at the table, pouring a glass of wine, finally feeling entirely, wonderfully safe.

If you were Julian, would you have handed the traitor to the cartel to endure a slow, brutal end, or was completely ruining him financially enough justice?
