Chapter 3 - The Optometrist

The cinematic tension in the school hallway was absolutely suffocating.

Frank didn't scream. He didn't cause a massive public scene in front of the other parents. The absolute, terrifying restraint he showed was infinitely more powerful.

Frank’s jaw clenched tight. He glared at Brenda with a cold, unrelenting anger that made the elegant woman physically step backward in shock.

He didn't argue with her. He simply reached down and took Rosie’s small, trembling hand.

"We are going to the doctor," Frank stated, his voice a low, lethal rumble. "Now."

"Frank, you are overreacting!" Brenda hissed, looking around nervously to see if anyone was listening. "Dominic needed shoes for his basketball tournament! Don't you dare embarrass me right now!"

"Take an Uber home, Brenda," Frank replied flawlessly, entirely devoid of human empathy for his wife. "I'll deal with you later."

Frank walked out of the school with his daughter, completely ignoring the toxic woman and her spoiled son.

An hour later, Frank and Rosie were sitting in the quiet, brightly lit office of the local optometrist. The doctor, an older man with kind eyes, gently removed the taped glasses from Rosie’s face to examine them.

"Frank," the doctor said, his expression turning deeply concerned. "These glasses aren't just broken. The prescription is completely wrong. She can barely see three feet in front of her."

Frank frowned, leaning forward in his chair. "What do you mean? We got her a new prescription six months ago."
