Chapter 2 - The Secret Lullaby

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, heavy tension completely electrified the grand hall.

Nora didn't yell back at the arrogant fiancée. She gently pulled the weeping six-year-old closer to her white apron to protect him from the sharp glass. To calm his racing heart, she began quietly, softly humming a beautiful, incredibly distinct lullaby.

A wide shot captured Rafael stepping completely out of the shadows.

The early-forties mafia boss was terrifyingly tall and broad-shouldered. He wore a flawless, all-black tailored suit over a dark black shirt, heavy, intimidating tattoos creeping up his neck from beneath his collar. He was the absolute, undisputed king of the city's underworld.

He held a fresh glass of champagne in his hand, preparing to walk over and calm his screaming fiancée.

But the exact second Nora’s soft, humming melody drifted across the marble floor, Rafael physically stopped breathing.

He didn't just freeze. He was completely, violently paralyzed. His natural micro-expressions shifted from cold, calculating authority to sheer, breathless, and absolute shock. The incredibly expensive champagne glass slipped directly through his fingers, plummeting to the marble floor and shattering into a million pieces.

The loud crash made Celeste jump violently, spinning around to face him.

But Rafael didn't even look at her. His dark, lethal eyes were locked entirely onto the young maid kneeling on the floor.

👉 Rafael took a slow, trembling step forward, completely consumed by the impossible melody.
