Chapter 6 - The Stolen Letters

"You're lying," Rafael stated clinically, entirely devoid of human mercy.
He didn't yell. His quietness was infinitely more terrifying. He pulled out a thick, heavy stack of unopened, handwritten envelopes tied with a faded ribbon.
Nora gasped loudly, her hand flying to her mouth. She recognized the faded blue envelopes immediately.
"My mother wrote those to you," Nora whispered, completely stunned. "I mailed them to this estate the day she died. They never got a response."
"They didn't get a response because I never saw them," Rafael explained flawlessly, his dark eyes locked entirely onto Celeste's terrified face. "My head of security intercepted them. He gave them directly to you, Celeste. Because you told him you handled all of my personal correspondence."
Celeste’s jaw literally unhinged. All the color violently drained from her flawless powdered face, leaving her looking like a terrified ghost.
