Chapter 5 - The Financial Secret

The hypocrisy was absolutely suffocating.

Rachel was a highly successful, hardworking corporate professional. Because she was the responsible daughter, Thomas and Evelyn had manipulated her into secretly paying their $1,850 monthly mortgage.

They begged her, claiming they would lose the family estate if she didn't help. They swore it was a temporary loan, but it had turned into a permanent, parasitic six-year drain on her finances.

Meanwhile, Mark—the forty-year-old "golden child"—had never held a steady job. He and his wife, Dana, lived entirely off the parents.

What Mark didn't know was that the luxury lifestyle he enjoyed, the expensive tablets, the tailored suits, and the lavish holiday dinners, were all secretly funded by Rachel’s hard-earned salary.

Her parents had literally taken Rachel’s money, used it to buy thousands of dollars in Christmas gifts for Mark's family, and then coldly looked Rachel's eleven-year-old daughter in the eye and said they "ran out of money."

They had used Rachel to fund her own child's humiliation.
