Chapter 5 - The Mastermind's Downfall
The video ended. The silence inside the SUV was absolute, terrifying, and dripping with imminent, inescapable justice.
Mauricio looked at the digital legal document attached to the video. It was the finalized, signed, and notarized copy of the true Will. Carmen had obviously stolen the original hard copy and locked the digital backup in the safe, planning to destroy it as soon as she successfully drove Mauricio and Renata away from the family.
She had dressed the sole billionaire heiress in literal rags and forced her to eat from a trash can, entirely as a psychological weapon to force Mauricio to abandon the adoption.
She tortured a six-year-old child for money.
Mauricio slowly closed the laptop. The devastated, grieving son completely vanished. The ruthless, terrifying CEO fully awakened, his eyes turning blacker than midnight.
"Daddy?" Renata asked nervously, seeing the dark intensity on his face. "Are you mad at me for taking it?"
Mauricio turned around, his expression melting instantly into a warm, deeply loving smile.
"No, sweetheart," Mauricio whispered, gently squeezing her hand. "You are the smartest, bravest girl in the entire world. You just saved our lives."
Mauricio picked up his cell phone. He didn't call the corrupt family lawyers. He dialed a direct line to the FBI's financial crimes division, speaking to an elite director who owed him a favor.
"Director," Mauricio stated coldly. "I have undeniable digital proof of massive corporate embezzlement, document forgery, and child endangerment. Send a raid team to my estate immediately."
He hung up the phone and looked at Renata.
