Chapter 4 - The Billionaire's Motive

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, heavy tension completely dominated the massive luxury estate.

Arthur aggressively dragged Maisie by the wrist through the sprawling, multi-million-dollar mansion, completely ignoring her tears and the heavy, painful limp caused by her gray medical boot. He forcefully shoved her onto an expensive velvet sofa in the grand living room.

"Sit down and shut your mouth," Arthur commanded smoothly, entirely devoid of human mercy.

To understand the absolute, unhinged cruelty of the billionaire surgeon, one had to look at Clara's family trust fund. Clara was the sole heir to a fifty-million-dollar real estate dynasty. Arthur had married her entirely for the money, but Clara had recently discovered he was massively embezzling her funds. She had packed her bags to leave him three days ago.

That was when Arthur violently pushed her down the grand marble staircase, crushing Maisie's foot in the process.

Arthur was currently hosting his elite corporate lawyers in the living room. Because Clara was in a coma, Arthur had absolute medical power of attorney. He was exactly ten minutes away from legally signing the papers to pull the plug on his wife's life support, ensuring he would instantly inherit the entire fifty-million-dollar empire before she could ever wake up and testify against him.

"Mr. Sterling," the lead corporate attorney said, adjusting his glasses and sliding a stack of heavy legal documents across the glass coffee table. "If you sign here, the hospital will terminate life support at noon."

👉 Before the tip of the gold pen could even touch the paper, a deafening, catastrophic explosion of shattered glass rocked the entire mansion.
