Chapter 9 - The Billionaire's Downfall
The officers didn't hesitate for a single second. They immediately unlocked Leo's handcuffs, completely freeing the innocent father.
Then, they turned on Arthur.
"Arthur Sterling," the lead officer barked loudly, aggressively grabbing the weeping billionaire by the arms and forcefully hauling him backward. "You are under arrest for attempted murder, massive wire fraud, and aggravated assault on a minor."
Arthur screamed and cried in total, undeniable disgrace as the heavy steel handcuffs snapped loudly around his wrists, completely stripping him of his fake wealth, his arrogant pride, and his untouchable power.
"You can't do this to me!" Arthur shrieked hysterically, desperately trying to fight the officers as they dragged him across the marble floor. "I am a hospital director! I am a multi-millionaire! I will sue this entire city!"
The officers didn't care about his money or his pathetic threats. They forcefully dragged the weeping, humiliated surgeon right past the shattered front doors, completely exposing him to the brutal reality of federal prison.
Leo didn't watch the monster get dragged away.
The rugged, working-class father dropped to his knees on the marble floor and pulled Maisie into a fierce, desperate embrace. The little girl wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, burying her face in his canvas jacket.
"You were so brave, sweetie," Leo wept quietly, kissing her cheeks. "You saved Mommy's life. You saved us."
"Can we go see her now, Daddy?" Maisie whispered, wiping her watery eyes.
