Chapter 10 - The Vow Fulfilled

"I am so incredibly sorry," Enzo wept, genuine, hot tears finally spilling from his intense dark eyes. "I failed to protect her. I let monsters into my home."

Clara looked at the powerful, vulnerable man. "You didn't know, Enzo. They manipulated you."

Enzo took a slow, shuddering breath. He looked at Clara, a woman who had sacrificed her entire career and risked her life to go undercover as a maid just to save a little girl she loved.

"You are no longer a maid in this house, Clara," Enzo declared softly, his voice thick with profound gratitude. "I am buying you a private practice. You have full funding, absolute protection, and anything you ever need for the rest of your life. And I am officially hiring you as Sophia's primary, permanent doctor."

Clara smiled, tears of pure relief falling from her eyes. "I would be honored."

In the months that followed, Victoria and Claire were sentenced to forty years in federal prison, completely abandoned by high society and left to rot in isolation.

Enzo stepped back from the violent frontlines of his empire, purging his inner circle to ensure his family's absolute safety.

A year later, the sunroom was bathed in bright, warm daylight. Enzo sat on the velvet sofa, his heart swelling with pure, unadulterated joy. He watched through tear-filled eyes as little Sophia, completely free of her heavy metal braces, took three shaky, beautiful steps across the marble floor, falling happily into Clara’s open arms.

The nightmare was over, and the ruthless boss finally found a genuine, unshakeable peace, knowing his daughter’s life had been saved by the bravest woman he had ever met.

Do you think handing the women over to the police was enough justice, or did they deserve a harsher punishment directly from the syndicate?
