Chapter 3 - The Suspicious Dosage

"Move, Clara," Claire hissed, stepping closer and trying to shoulder past the maid. "Sophia needs her muscle relaxers. If she misses a dose, she’ll have painful spasms."
"She isn't having spasms," Clara countered, her voice dropping to a low, lethal whisper. "And that isn't a standard muscle relaxer. It's a high-concentration neuromuscular blocker. If you give her that pill, you aren't treating her. You are intentionally suppressing her central nervous system."
The entire sunroom went dead silent.
Claire’s flawless, arrogant facade cracked for a fraction of a second. A flash of genuine panic crossed her eyes, but she quickly masked it with hysterical anger.
"You are completely insane!" Claire shrieked, looking over Clara’s shoulder directly at Enzo in the background. "Mr. Enzo! Your maid is having a psychotic break! She is physically preventing me from administering critical medication to your daughter!"
Enzo slowly stepped out of the shadows. The terrifying aura of the mafia boss instantly suffocated the warm daylight of the sunroom. He walked past the large windows, his dark eyes locked entirely on the maid in the black and white uniform.
"Clara," Enzo said, his deep voice a rumbling threat. "Step aside."
Clara swallowed hard. Her hands were trembling against her apron, but she refused to move. She looked dead into Enzo’s intense eyes, risking her life to protect a child that wasn't even hers.

"Sir, please look at the pill," Clara pleaded, her voice thick with desperation. "It's a double dosage. If she takes that every single day, her muscles will permanently atrophy. She will never walk again."
