Chapter 8 - The Stripping of the Queen

"She's in the sunroom with Victoria," a bodyguard answered nervously. "They are having tea."

Enzo didn't say another word. He turned on his heel and marched out of the office, his polished shoes echoing like a death knell down the marble hallway.

He burst into the sunroom.

Victoria and Claire were sitting on the plush velvet sofas, sipping expensive tea and laughing together. Sophia was slumped in her wheelchair in the corner, heavily sedated from the pill Claire had forced her to take.

When Victoria saw Enzo storming into the room with his weapon drawn, her laughter died instantly in her throat.

"Enzo, darling?" Victoria gasped, standing up, her flawless face turning the color of wet chalk. "What's wrong?"

Enzo didn't speak. He moved with explosive, blinding speed. He grabbed the silver tray holding the tea and violently hurled it across the room, shattering the glass against the wall.

He marched directly up to Claire. Before the wicked nurse could even scream, Enzo grabbed her by the throat, lifting her entirely off the floor.

"You poisoned my daughter," Enzo whispered directly into Claire’s terrified face. He threw her brutally to the marble floor.

Victoria shrieked hysterically, backing away toward the windows. "Enzo, stop! She's crazy! The maid lied to you!"

Enzo turned his dark, lethal eyes onto his fiancée. He walked over to her, his chest heaving with pure, unadulterated hatred. He didn't hit her. He simply grabbed her left hand and violently ripped the massive diamond engagement ring right off her finger.
