Chapter 7 - The Undeniable Proof

"You're lying to save your life," Enzo growled, stepping closer, pressing the cold steel of the pistol against Clara’s chest. "Victoria loves my daughter."

Clara didn't flinch. She reached out and flipped open the black lockbox, pulling out the original MRI report. She shoved the paper directly into Enzo’s chest.

"Read it!" Clara demanded, her voice echoing off the walls. "Read the surgeon's notes! Her spine wasn't severed! She was supposed to start physical therapy eighteen months ago! Instead, Victoria hired Claire to chemically paralyze your child so you would eventually lock her away in a facility!"

Enzo snatched the paper with his free hand. His highly intelligent, tactical mind scanned the medical terminology. He saw the surgeon's signature. He saw the positive prognosis.

And then, he saw the transfer form signed by Victoria.

The cinematic, earth-shattering realization hit the mafia boss with the force of a nuclear bomb.

His hand began to shake violently. He slowly lowered the pistol. The woman he was about to marry hadn't just lied to him; she had systematically, deliberately tortured his innocent seven-year-old daughter for two agonizing years.

"Sophia's leg twitched today, Enzo," Clara wept softly. "The medicine is starting to fail because she is growing. Her body is fighting back. She wants to walk. You have to save her."

Enzo stood perfectly still in the quiet office. The terrifying, ruthless syndicate boss fully awakened. The sheer magnitude of his impending wrath was absolute.
