Chapter 3 - The Panicked Fiancée

A tight close-up captured Allison’s face as her perfectly manicured life began to violently unravel.
Her eyes darted wildly between the newborn and Nathan's face. The physical resemblance was impossible to ignore. But it wasn't just the baby's face that horrified her—it was the devastating reality of the timeline.
Nathan had sworn to Allison that he hadn't slept with Claire for an entire year before their divorce. He had promised her that Claire’s desperate pregnancy claim was a pathetic, manipulative lie.
But the baby in the blue blanket was full-term. Which meant Nathan had been sleeping with his wife long after he had promised his exclusive devotion to his mistress.
"Nathan," Allison choked out, her face twisting in horrified realization, panic bleeding into every syllable. "Tell me that isn't yours."
A medium close-up captured Nathan. He turned slightly toward Allison, opening his mouth to speak. But no words came out. He remained completely silent, entirely paralyzed by his own massive, destructive lie.
He couldn't deny it anymore. The living, breathing proof was sleeping quietly in the wheelchair.
Claire recoiled slightly from Nathan's proximity. She instinctively pulled the blue blanket tighter around the newborn, fiercely protecting her son from the toxic presence of the man who had abandoned them both.
"His name is Owen Bennett," Claire announced, her voice firm, deliberately using her maiden name to completely sever the child from Nathan’s bloodline.
An extreme close-up captured Nathan’s face. His stoic, arrogant facade completely broke. Profound, agonizing regret washed over him.
