Chapter 7 - The Ironclad Trap

Nathan took a nervous step backward, intimidated by the massive attorney.

"I'm the biological father, Arthur," Nathan stammered, trying to sound confident. "Allison’s legal team is the best in the city. We have more than enough money to drag Claire through family court for years until she gives up."

Arthur didn't raise his voice. He reached into the inner pocket of his charcoal suit and pulled out a single, heavily notarized legal document.

He held it up right in front of Nathan's face.

"Do you remember signing this during the divorce settlement, Nathan?" Arthur asked smoothly. "You were in such a frantic rush to run away with your mistress's money that you didn't even bother reading the fine print."

Nathan’s eyes scanned the document. His heart flatlined.

It was a voluntary, irrevocable termination of parental rights. Arthur had slipped it into the stack of asset division papers. Nathan had signed away every single legal claim to any children born to Claire, effectively erasing himself from the bloodline forever, completely legally bound by a judge.

"You tricked me!" Nathan roared, his face flushing red with unadulterated fury.

"I didn't trick you," Arthur corrected coldly. "I protected my daughter from a parasite. You have zero legal rights to this child. If you ever try to file a custody claim, the judge will throw it out in five minutes, and I will personally sue you for a decade of back child support."

Allison gasped, realizing Nathan was entirely useless to her now.

"You signed away the kid?!" Allison shrieked at Nathan, completely losing her mind. "You idiot! That was my only chance to have a family!"
