Chapter 10 - The Wheelchair

"Megan... please," Preston choked out, crawling slightly across the floor toward her wheelchair. "I was stupid. I was blind. I didn't know what she was doing. We can fix this. The twins are mine. We can be a family."
Megan sat perfectly composed in her wheelchair. She didn't cry. She didn't yell. She looked at the pathetic, broken man on the floor, and felt absolutely nothing but a cold, beautiful clarity.
"You aren't a father, Preston," Megan said, her voice soft but filled with absolute finality. "You are just a sperm donor who tried to leave his children to die so he could run away with a liar."
Megan slowly turned her wheelchair around, facing the door that led to the NICU.
"My lawyer will be sending the divorce papers to your office on Monday," Megan stated, not looking back. "I am taking full sole custody. And thanks to Dr. Patel's report, I have undeniable proof of your severe emotional instability and abandonment. You will never see my children."
Lorraine didn't say a word to defend her son. She simply stepped aside, holding the door open for Megan.

Megan wheeled herself out of the consultation room and down the quiet hallway, heading straight toward the incubators where her beautiful twins were waiting. She was exhausted, but for the first time in years, she was completely free of the toxic poison of her marriage.
If your partner demanded a paternity test to ruin you, would you ever let them see the child once the truth came out?
