Chapter 6 - The Paper Handover

Dr. Patel didn't hand the paper to Preston. Instead, he reached across the small table and handed the single page directly to Lorraine.
Lorraine, the fiercely protective and judgmental matriarch, snatched the paper from the doctor's hands. She adjusted her designer jacket, completely prepared to read a document that would finally exonerate her son and destroy Megan’s reputation.
Tight reaction shot. Lorraine’s eyes scanned the first few lines of the medical report.
Instantly, the haughty, arrogant confidence melted off her face. Her perfectly manicured fingers tightened violently around the edges of the page, crumpling the paper. Her breathing became shallow, and she let out a quiet, horrifying gasp. She looked up, her eyes wide with absolute betrayal, but she didn't look at Megan.
She looked directly at Sienna.
Behind Lorraine, Sienna’s confident posture shattered. The beautiful mistress slowly, quietly took one single step backward toward the closed door.
