Chapter 9 - The Mother's Fury

Lorraine stood over her weeping son, showing absolutely zero pity. "You brought a gold-digging parasite into my family," she said coldly. "And you tried to disown your own true blood in the next room."
Lorraine turned her sharp, intense gaze toward Megan. For the first time in five years, the older woman didn't look at her daughter-in-law with judgment. She looked at her with profound, terrifying respect.
"Dr. Patel," Lorraine commanded, adjusting her pearl earrings. "I want the best specialists in the country flown in for my grandchildren. I don't care what it costs. Bill it directly to my personal accounts."
Dr. Patel nodded slowly, picking up his medical folders. "I will make the calls immediately, Mrs. Whitford."
Lorraine looked down at Sienna, who was still sobbing on the floor. "And as for you, if you ever come within fifty miles of my family again, I will personally ensure you spend the rest of your life in a federal prison for criminal fraud and extortion. Get out of this hospital before I call security."
Sienna didn't argue. She scrambled to her feet, tears ruining her makeup, and bolted out the door, her dream of a billionaire lifestyle completely shattered.
