Chapter 9 - The Mother's Arrest

Heavy, wailing police sirens aggressively shattered the quiet, elite atmosphere outside the hospital.

Two heavily armed police officers marched directly into the emergency waiting room. They completely bypassed the sweating, terrified husband and walked straight toward the hospital entrance doors.

Judith had just arrived.

The wealthy sixty-five-year-old matriarch walked through the sliding glass doors wearing her cream-colored textured dress, desperately trying to look like a concerned mother-in-law.

"Officers!" Judith panicked loudly, perfectly playing her fake victim role. "Is my daughter-in-law okay? It was a terrible accident!"

"Judith Vance," the lead officer barked loudly, aggressively grabbing the arrogant socialite by the arms.

"What are you doing?!" Judith shrieked wildly, her pearl necklace shaking as she completely abandoned her sophisticated persona. "Get your filthy hands off me!"

"You are under arrest for aggravated assault and attempted manslaughter," the officer announced, forcefully hauling her backward. "We have a signed medical affidavit from the Chief of Emergency Medicine confirming you shattered seven of her ribs."

Graham stared at his mother in absolute, breathless horror. He didn't step forward to defend her. The cowardly son completely froze, entirely paralyzed by the sheer magnitude of the federal charges.

Judith screamed and cried in total, undeniable disgrace as the heavy steel handcuffs snapped loudly around her wrists, completely stripping her of her fake wealth, her arrogant pride, and her freedom.
