Chapter 3 - The Ghost's Message

Sofia was Alessandro’s beautiful, beloved wife. She had died in a tragic car accident exactly three years ago, a week before their first anniversary.
Alessandro had personally buried her. He had kissed her cold forehead in the casket. He had placed this exact silver wolf and rose necklace—a custom piece he had designed for her—around her neck before they closed the lid. It was physically impossible for this necklace to be above ground, let alone in the hands of a six-year-old maid's daughter.
"Where did your mother get this?" Alessandro demanded, his voice shaking with a terrifying, desperate intensity.
Lily looked up at the towering mafia boss. Her innocent eyes were glossy with unshed tears. She heard the heavy footsteps of the traitorous guards approaching the marble fountain.
"She said your wife is still alive," Lily trembled, clutching the fabric of Alessandro’s black suit.
Alessandro’s entire world violently shattered and instantly rebuilt itself.
The shock in his eyes completely evaporated, transforming into a cold, lethal, and unadulterated fury. The grief he had carried for three years instantly morphed into the wrath of a god. He didn't know how, and he didn't know why, but if Sofia was alive, nothing on this earth was going to stop him from finding her.
He slipped the silver necklace into his pocket. He checked the magazine of his pistol.
He stepped forward, placing his large body entirely in front of the little girl, shielding Lily from the approaching assassins.
