Chapter 9 - The Execution of Justice

Alessandro didn't shoot her. A bullet was too quick for what she had done.
He pulled out his encrypted phone and dialed his fiercely loyal second-in-command, a man stationed at the syndicate's headquarters downtown who had no part in the mansion coup.
"Bring the cleanup crew to the estate," Alessandro ordered smoothly. "And prepare the cellar."
Valentina’s eyes widened in absolute, paralyzing horror. "No! Please! You can't put me down there!"
"You put your own flesh and blood in a concrete box for three years, Valentina," Alessandro stated, completely devoid of human empathy. "Now, you get to see exactly what it feels like. The door will be welded shut. You will never see the sun again."
"Sofia! Sister, please!" Valentina wailed pathetically, reaching out toward the frail woman standing behind Alessandro. "Tell him to show mercy!"
Sofia looked at her sister. She remembered the cold nights, the starvation, and the cruel, mocking laughter. Sofia stepped forward, her eyes hardening with unbreakable resolve.
"You died three years ago, Valentina," Sofia replied softly.
Alessandro's loyal men arrived within minutes. They grabbed the screaming, thrashing Valentina by the arms, violently hauling her away from the grand foyer and dragging her down the secret staircase into the darkness, ending her reign of cruelty forever.
