Chapter 10 - The True Feast

The chaotic, frantic energy completely evaporated from the massive house.
Ernest stood alone in the dining room. He didn't cry. He didn't collapse in grief. He let out a long, shuddering breath. The heavy, agonizing weight of disrespect and toxic abuse was finally, completely lifted from his shoulders. He had protected his property, and he had completely destroyed the parasite living in it.
He took the dog bowl and threw it directly into the trash can.
In the months that followed, Louis was sentenced to ten years in a federal penitentiary for massive real estate fraud. He was completely abandoned by Carla, who quickly moved on to another wealthy target, only to get arrested herself for petty theft a month later.
Ernest didn't sit around mourning a broken family.
He moved his belongings out of the dark basement and fully reclaimed the master bedroom. He completely renovated the dining room, erasing every single toxic memory of his arrogant son.
A year later, the same dining room was filled with warm, golden lighting.
But it wasn't a toxic, fake dinner party.
Ernest sat at the head of the mahogany table, radiating absolute health, power, and undeniable peace. The table was filled with a massive, delicious holiday feast. But he wasn't alone. He was surrounded by his old friends, fellow retired judges, and genuine neighbors who actually respected him.

Ernest smiled brightly, raising a crystal glass of expensive wine to toast his true family. The nightmare was completely over, proving that true wealth isn't about the house you own—it is about having the courage to throw out the trash and finally take your rightful seat at the table.
Do you think ten years in prison was enough justice for Louis, or did the cruel son deserve a harsher punishment for serving his father dog food?
