Chapter 8 - The Fraud Exposed

Louis stood in the center of the ruined dining room, hyperventilating. His toxic ego was completely shattered. His friends were gone. His girlfriend had abandoned him.
He looked at Ernest, his eyes wild with feral, desperate fury.
"You ruined my life!" Louis roared, lunging aggressively toward the old man with his fists clenched.
But the two police officers moved with explosive, tactical speed. They intercepted Louis instantly, grabbing his arms and violently forcing him face-first onto the polished dining table, right next to the spilled champagne.
"Get off me!" Louis screamed, thrashing wildly.
"Hold him," the lead officer barked, pulling out a pair of heavy steel handcuffs.
"Wait," Ernest said smoothly, raising his hand. The officers paused.
Ernest pulled a second folded document from his pocket. He placed it on the table right in front of Louis's face.
"Did you really think I didn't know you tried to list this house for sale yesterday, Louis?" Ernest asked, his voice a low, terrifying rumble. "I got an alert from the county clerk. You forged my signature on a transfer of deed application."
Louis stopped thrashing. His eyes widened in sheer, paralyzing horror.
