Chapter 6 - The Master Deed

Carla crossed her arms, her dark red dress swishing as she sneered at Ernest.

"Oh great, the freeloader called the cops," Carla mocked loudly. "Officers, remove that old man! He lives in our basement for free and he's harassing us!"

Ernest didn't look at Carla. He walked smoothly past his furious son and handed the thick manila envelope directly to the lead officer.

The officer opened it, pulling out the original, notarized Master Deed and Title of Ownership. He scanned the bold black text, checking the official state seal and the name at the bottom.

"The deed clearly states this property belongs entirely to Ernest Vance," the officer announced, his voice carrying lethal authority. He looked directly at Louis. "Your name is not on this document. You have zero legal claim to this estate."

Louis stopped breathing. The blood completely drained from his handsome face, leaving him looking like a terrified ghost.

"That... that's a mistake!" Louis stammered, his arrogant facade violently collapsing. "He told everyone this was my house! He let me live here!"

"I let you live here as a guest," Ernest corrected quietly, completely devoid of human empathy. "But guests who serve their host dog food lose their privileges."
