Chapter 4 - The Quiet Eviction

Ernest picked up his old, reliable smartphone from his desk.
He didn't call Louis. He didn't call Carla to beg for respect.
He dialed a direct number he hadn't used in three years. The phone rang twice before a sharp, professional voice answered.
"Chief Inspector Davis," the voice said.
"Mark, it's Ernest," the old man spoke quietly into the receiver, his voice echoing with undeniable authority. Before he retired, Ernest wasn't just a quiet old man. He had been a highly respected, high-ranking federal judge for thirty years.
"Judge," the Inspector replied, his tone instantly shifting to absolute respect. "It's been a while. Is everything alright?"
"No," Ernest replied smoothly. "I have a trespasser violently occupying my private residence. He is currently hosting an unauthorized party with over forty unknown individuals. I need the property completely cleared."
The Inspector didn't hesitate. "I'll send three units immediately, sir."
Ernest hung up the phone. He took his original property deed, placed it securely inside a thick manila envelope, and walked slowly back toward the basement stairs.
Upstairs, the party was reaching a chaotic, arrogant peak. Louis was standing on a dining room chair, popping a bottle of expensive champagne, showering the laughing guests and the expensive mahogany table.
