Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Justice

Sarah didn't shed another tear for the man in the bed.
Within an hour, Sarah’s father and a team of ruthless estate lawyers arrived at the hospital. Because Ben was in a medically induced coma and had not explicitly filed for divorce, Sarah was still his legal next of kin and held total medical and financial power of attorney.
They immediately contested the new will on the grounds of medical incapacity. With Chloe willingly signing a sworn affidavit confirming Ben was under heavy hallucinations from the morphine when he signed the document, the new trust was completely invalidated by a judge before the sun even went down.
Sarah legally seized complete control of all the assets. She froze the offshore accounts, canceled the life insurance transfer, and secured the deed to her home.
Two days later, the monitors in Room 412 finally flatlined. Ben died entirely alone. Chloe had transferred to a different hospital, and Sarah didn't even bother to attend the funeral. She simply paid for a basic cremation out of his remaining pocket change.

Sarah stood outside the hospital in her elegant beige wool coat, holding a coffee instead of a brown paper bag. She had walked into that building expecting to surprise a loving husband. Instead, she had uncovered a monster, destroyed his final, cruel manipulation, and walked out with her dignity, her wealth, and her entire future firmly protected.
If your partner hid a terminal illness just to fund a secret double life, would you have left them to die alone?
