Chapter 1 - The Vicious Guard Dog

The grand, luxury wood-paneled study was a cinematic sanctuary of absolute, terrifying mafia power. The room was dimly lit, reeking of expensive cigars and heavy leather. Standing near the massive mahogany desk was Dante, a fiercely handsome, untouchable crime boss in his thirties wearing a sharp black suit.
Four towering, heavily armed lieutenants stood perfectly still in the shadows of the room.
But the most dangerous thing in the study wasn't the men with guns. It was Bruno.
Bruno was a massive, terrifyingly muscular Doberman Pinscher. He was a highly trained, violently aggressive guard dog, bred specifically to tear intruders apart on command. He stood at absolute attention near the heavy oak doors, his dark eyes locked onto the hallway.
Suddenly, the heavy oak doors creaked open.
A tiny, five-year-old girl named Sophie walked into the mafia den. She wore a bright red dress, her small bare feet padding softly against the expensive Persian rug. She was the daughter of the new estate housekeeper, and she had wandered completely out of the safe zones of the mansion.
Sophie didn't look at the armed men. She walked directly toward the massive, lethal Doberman.
