Chapter 4 - The Wicked Stepmother

The delicate, heartbreaking cinematic moment was violently interrupted.
Heavy, aggressive footsteps echoed down the marble hallway outside the study. The heavy oak doors were violently pushed open, banging against the wood paneling.
A woman in her thirties marched into the room, wearing an expensive, tailored white suit and heavy diamond jewelry. It was Valeria. She was Dante’s newly appointed fiancée—a ruthless, incredibly toxic socialite from an allied mafia family, completely obsessed with power and aesthetics.
Valeria glared at the little girl in the red dress with pure, unadulterated disgust.
"What is this filthy child doing in the executive wing?" Valeria shrieked, completely shattering the quiet atmosphere. She aggressively pointed her manicured finger at Sophie. "I told the housekeeper to keep her brat locked in the basement quarters!"
Sophie flinched, shrinking back against the Doberman. Bruno instantly tensed, sensing the little girl's fear. A low, lethal growl vibrated in his chest as he glared at Valeria.
Dante slowly stood up from the Persian rug. The gentle, shocked man completely vanished. The cold, ruthless, and terrifying mafia king fully awakened.
