Chapter 7 - The Eviction

Valeria hyperventilated, her eyes widening in pure, breathless shock. She realized her entire high-society mafia empire had just been annihilated in a single sentence. She was completely cut off, completely broke, and entirely unprotected.

"No! Please!" Valeria wailed pathetically, dropping her arrogant facade completely. "Dante, I was just stressed! I'll apologize to the brat! Let me stay!"

Dante didn't yell. He didn't even look at her anymore. He snapped his fingers.

The four towering lieutenants immediately stepped out of the shadows. They didn't grab the dog. They grabbed Valeria by her expensive white suit jacket, violently hauling the screaming, panicking woman toward the heavy oak doors.

"Throw her out the front gates," Dante commanded coldly. "She walks back to the city with nothing but the clothes on her back."

"Dante!" Valeria sobbed hysterically as they dragged her right across the marble hallway. Her desperate, pathetic cries faded into the distance, ending her reign of psychological cruelty and arrogance forever.

The study fell into a profound, heavy, and incredibly peaceful silence.

Dante turned back to little Sophie. The child was still sitting on the rug, her arms wrapped tightly around Bruno’s neck. The massive dog was completely relaxed, his tail giving a soft, happy thump against the floorboards.
