Chapter 5 - The Toxic Demand

Valeria scoffed, completely oblivious to the lethal danger radiating from Dante’s dark eyes. She thought her status as his fiancée made her untouchable.

"She is bothering me!" Valeria snapped arrogantly, crossing her arms over her expensive white suit. "This entire mansion is a mess! And that stupid, vicious dog is a liability! He ruined my favorite designer shoes yesterday!"

Dante’s jaw clenched so hard it looked like it would shatter. Bruno had chewed her shoes because she had kicked the dog when she thought nobody was looking.

"I am the future queen of this syndicate," Valeria sneered, looking down her nose at Dante with complete, toxic superiority. "I will not share my home with the help, and I will not live with a dangerous beast. You are going to have that dog put down today. And you are going to fire the housekeeper and throw this brat out on the street."

The four armed lieutenants in the background visibly tensed. They knew exactly how much Dante loved that dog, and they knew the explosive rage their boss was capable of.

Valeria smirked, assuming she had completely won the argument.

"It's just a dog, Dante," Valeria mocked cruelly. "Grow up and handle it."

Dante stood perfectly composed in his black suit. The cinematic realism of his total, icy restraint was infinitely more terrifying than a violent outburst.
