Chapter 2 - The Blast Wave

The cinematic tension on the marina promenade was completely paralyzing.

As the secondary fuel tanks on the yacht ignited, sending a secondary blast wave ripping across the stone balustrade, Adrian moved with explosive, lethal speed.

"Get down!" Adrian roared, completely bypassing the arrogance of his immense wealth and power.

He violently pulled Elsie toward him, throwing his massive, muscular frame over the little girl to shield her with his own body. The blast wave hit them, scattering burning debris into the sparkling blue water, but Adrian’s tailored suit absorbed the impact.

Adrian slowly lifted his head, his dark eyes locked on the burning yacht in total, absolute disbelief.

He realized in a fraction of a second that if Elsie hadn't thrown a massive tantrum on the dock three minutes ago, completely refusing to walk up the gangway, he would be dead right now. His family would be dead.

Standing a few steps behind them was Rachel. She was Elsie’s mother, a woman in her thirties wearing a simple maid uniform with a crisp white apron and cap. She had been hired to clean the yacht before the trip.

Rachel stood frozen, covering her mouth with her trembling hands, weeping in pure, unadulterated terror from the blast wave. She realized her daughter had just saved the life of the most dangerous man in the city.
