Chapter 6 - The Nameless Hero

Arthur stopped just a few feet away from the doorway.

"Then, a mechanic in a rusty old truck saw her," Arthur said softly. "He pulled over on the dangerous, icy shoulder. He didn't just give her a ride. He spent three grueling hours in the freezing snow, fixing her cracked engine block with his bare hands so she could drive herself home safely."

Arthur looked directly into Evan’s dark eyes. "When he finally got her car running, my wife tried to write him a blank check. She offered him thousands of dollars in cash."

"And you refused it," Arthur whispered, his voice trembling with profound respect. "You told her to keep her money and just get home safe to her family. You wouldn't even give her your name. You just packed up your tools and drove away into the blizzard. But before you left, she took a blurry picture of the faded logo on the side of your truck."

Evan didn't puff out his chest. He didn't smile triumphantly at Cassandra. He simply stared back at the billionaire with quiet, steady confidence, gripping his black cap.
