Chapter 8 - The Ripped Contract

Cassandra began to hyperventilate. The thirty-million-dollar investment was slipping through her manicured fingers, taking her entire career down with it.

"Arthur, please," Cassandra stammered, frantically setting her champagne glass down on the table, spilling some of the expensive liquid. "I didn't know! If I had known he was a personal friend of yours, I would have treated him with the utmost respect! Let me get him a chair. Evan, please, come sit down! Can we get you some water?"

Arthur let out a harsh, cold laugh that chilled the entire room.

"You would have treated him with respect because of me?" Arthur snapped, his voice booming with terrifying authority. "A person's worth is not defined by the dirt on their clothes or the title on their door, Cassandra. It is defined by their character. And your character is completely rotten."

Arthur walked aggressively back to the mahogany table. He picked up the thick, gold-embossed investment contract that Cassandra had desperately needed him to sign.

With one swift, violent motion, Arthur ripped the contract completely in half.
