Chapter 3 - The Invisible ATM

To understand the absolute insanity of Chelsea’s arrogance, one had to look at the meticulously hidden financial reality of the household.

For the past two years, Albert had lived quietly in the guest room. When his wife passed away, Logan had invited him to move in. Chelsea had viciously fought the idea, claiming Albert was a "penniless burden" who would ruin their aesthetic. She only agreed when Albert promised to pay a modest "rent" from his pension.

Because Albert wore simple khaki pants and faded green jackets, Chelsea genuinely believed he was a broke, pathetic old man living off government checks. She treated him like an unwanted squatter, forcing him to eat his meals alone and forbidding him from using the main living spaces when she had company.

But Albert was not broke.

He was a retired, brilliant structural engineer who had quietly amassed a massive, eight-hundred-thousand-dollar investment portfolio. He simply didn't care about flashy designer clothes or luxury cars. He valued humility.

And for two years, Albert had been the invisible pillar keeping his son’s fake billionaire lifestyle from completely collapsing.

Logan’s business was failing miserably. He was drowning in massive credit card debt to keep up with Chelsea's spending habits. Every single month, Albert secretly transferred thousands of dollars into Logan’s private account to cover the mortgage on the luxury suburban home.
