Chapter 7 - The Declined Cards

Three weeks passed. Albert never called. He never texted. He had completely vanished into the wind.

Chelsea had spent the entire time gloating, constantly reminding Logan how much better their house looked without a "tacky old man" ruining the aesthetic of their luxury home.

But on a crisp Tuesday afternoon, the illusion violently shattered.

Chelsea was standing at the checkout counter of a high-end designer boutique, casually trying to purchase three thousand dollars’ worth of luxury handbags. She swiped her platinum credit card with a smug, entitled smile.

The machine beeped aggressively in red. Transaction Declined.

Frowning, Chelsea pulled out her secondary card.

Transaction Declined. Account Frozen.

Furious, she stormed out of the boutique and dialed Logan’s number. "Logan! Fix your stupid bank accounts! My cards are declining, and I need these bags for the gala this weekend!"

"Chelsea, come home," Logan choked out over the phone. His voice was high-pitched, breathless, and completely gripped by sheer, unadulterated terror. "Right now."

When Chelsea tore into the driveway of their suburban home, she noticed a strange, official-looking white envelope taped aggressively to the heavy front door.

She ripped it off and stormed inside.

Logan was sitting on the floor of the living room, surrounded by stacks of overdue bills and final notices. He looked like a man who had just seen a ghost.

👉 Chelsea opened the envelope, and the legal reality she read completely broke her arrogant mind.
