Chapter 3 - The Hard Plastic

Dante shifted his lethal gaze to Rex. The massive Doberman sat obediently by the wall, looking entirely confused. Stuck directly to the dog's wet black nose was a single, tiny clump of white cotton stuffing.
But Dante was a calculating apex predator. He noticed the edges of the torn bear. The fabric wasn't shredded by jagged canine teeth. It was sliced in a perfectly straight, aggressive line. Someone had used a pair of heavy scissors.
Anna, the maid, saw the cold, dark shift in her boss's eyes. A tight close-up captured her sheer, unadulterated terror. She reached out toward the cotton, terrified of angering the mafia boss.
"I am so sorry, sir," Anna panicked, her voice trembling violently. "I looked away for just one second! I'll buy her a new one today!"
A close-up captured Dante raising his heavily tattooed hand, instantly silencing the terrified maid. His dark eyes remained fixed intently on the torn bear in Sophie's arms.
"Give me the bear," Dante instructed quietly, his voice a freezing, lethal calm. "I'll fix it."
Sophie hesitated, then bravely walked forward and handed him the ruined toy.

An extreme close-up captured Dante’s large fingers probing the bear's open, sliced seams. He didn't feel soft cotton. He paused, his natural micro-expressions turning absolutely, terrifyingly cold. Deep inside the plush fabric, his fingers brushed against a small, hidden hard plastic square.
👉 Dante pulled the object from the stuffing, realizing he had just invited a deadly assassin into his home.
