Chapter 6 - The Interrupted Crime

The high-definition video played out the exact truth of the crime.

Elena sprinted across the room, grabbing a pair of heavy silver shears from a decorative flower arrangement. She aggressively plunged the scissors into the teddy bear, tearing the fabric violently in a desperate attempt to rip the hidden camera out and destroy the memory card.

But as she violently yanked the cotton stuffing out, the tiny SD card slipped through the fabric and fell deep into the bear's leg, completely hidden.

Suddenly, the drawing room doors swung open on the video. Sophie marched in.

Elena panicked. She instantly dropped the scissors. She grabbed a clump of the white cotton stuffing, grabbed Rex by the collar, and aggressively rubbed the cotton onto the Doberman's wet nose.

"Look what Rex did to your toy, Sophie!" Elena lied flawlessly, plastering on a fake, sympathetic pout as the little girl began to cry.

The video abruptly cut to black as Dante removed the card.

Dante sat perfectly still in his leather chair. The profound, agonizing betrayal registered in his dark eyes for exactly one microsecond before violently transforming into a cold, lethal, and utterly demonic fury. He checked his heavy silver watch. It was eight-forty-five.
